Raalmaduwa, Eluwankulama — Prime western entrance to Wilpattu National Park
Reaching Governor's Camp Wilpattu
Governor’s Camp Wilpattu is located at Raalmaduwa, Eluwankulama along the western boundary of Wilpattu National Park in Sri Lanka’s North Western Province. The campsite sits right on the edge of the Raalmadu Oya river, just a few minutes’ drive from the park’s Eluwankulama ticket office and gate.
Entering Wilpattu from Eluwankulama bypasses the crowded eastern gates (Nochchiyagama/Hunuwilgama), giving our guests swift, unhurried entry to prime leopard and birdwatching habitats across the western villus and coastal estuarine tracks.
Approach Road & Vehicle Recommendation
The access road leading from the main highway into the campsite is rustic and unpaved with potholes. We strongly recommend arriving in a four-wheel drive (4WD) or high-clearance SUV, particularly during monsoon and wet seasons.
If you are driving a low-clearance saloon car, our camp team can arrange safe parking on the main road and transfer you in our 4x4 safari vehicles upon request.
