With herds of elephants, wild buffalo, sambhur and a myriad of birds, Udawalawe is the Sri Lankan national park that best rivals the savannah reserves of Africa. The Park’s 30, 821 hectares of wilderness centre on the large Udawalawe Reservoir, fed by the Walawe Ganga. The entrance to this lush paradise park is 12km from the Ratnapura – Hambantota road turn-off, and 21km from Embilipitiya.
About camp
Achieving perfection in harmonious balance between a sense of adventure and tremendous fun, one would be hard pressed to surpass the Governor’s Camp Udawalawe, which lies seamlessly side by side with pure relaxation and exciting fun.
The Camp is surrounded by a canopy of trees that attract a myriad birds, both endemic and migratory
Camp Description
This jungle Camp, securely nestled in a 3-acre plot, is surrounded by the Kiriibbanara Wewa, in all its pristine glory and is located a mere 12km or 10 minutes away from the Udawalawe National Park entrance.
The Camp comprises twin cadjan pavilions set in secure surroundings. One pavilion, at the centre of the camp, is an open dining cum lounging area with a picturesque view of the Wewa. Meals are served here by an attentive staff that spoils you for comfort.
The other has ten comfortable beds with an additional attached double-bed room. Two toilets/bathrooms with open hot/cold showers are just a few meters away. The toilets are fitted with modern amenities with no scarcity of water.
In addition to the sleeping arrangements in the pavilion, the Camp offers canvas tents that can accommodate up to eight persons per tent. So bring along your family and friends… we have room for them all.

The Resort comprising twin cadjan pavilions, is located a mere 12km from the Udawalawe National Park entrance.

Wild Life Safari Udawalawe
Probably the most fun and exciting thing you can do – safari wildlife viewing in open top jeeps in the famed Udawalawe, Lunugamwehera, Bundala, and Yala National Parks
(4WD Jeeps available on request).

Bird Watching
We are surrounded by the Kiriibbanara Wewa. This fresh water lake is just great for swimming and/or fishing, as there are so many species of fish. (Please bring your own fishing lines or rods. Life jackets in three sizes are available on-site and must be worn at all times when in the water).

Kayaking, Canoeing & Boating
Two sit-on Kayaks, a three-person fibre glass Dinghy, a three-person fibre glass Raft and a Canoe are all available on site, guaranteeing hours of uninterrupted fun and joy.

Sea and Lake Fishing
We are surrounded by the Kiriibbanara Wewa. This fresh water lake is just great for swimming and/or fishing, as there are so many species of fish.
(please bring your own fishing lines or rods, life jackets in three sizes are available on-site and must be worn mandatory).

Recreation
A wide array of games, including Board Games, Volley Ball, Badminton, Croquet, Cricket, Carom, Draughts and Chess await the discerning. Meanwhile, the kids can have tonnes of fun with their own Tree House and Sand Pit.
